Alison Overholt accepts awards on behalf of espnW, ESPN The Mag

Alison Overholt accepts Folioâ€™s Top Women in Media â€œDirector-Level Doerâ€ award at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Alison Overholt,Â Editor-in-Chief of espnW and ESPN The Magazine, crossed the country earlier this week to collect two industry awards for excellence, one on behalf of espnW, as well as a personal recognition. On Monday, The Alliance for Women in Media gala in Beverly Hills, Calif., recognized espnW with a Gracies Award in the Interactive Media category for best news website. espnW has previously won Gracies for its films, productions and specials. On Wednesday, Folio honored Overholt as one of the Top Women in Media in the â€œDirector-Level Doersâ€ category. Overholt attended the New York City luncheon, along with fellow honorees from Bloomberg Media, The Atlantic, Hearst Magazines, Time Inc., and more. ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com Creative Director Chin Wang was also honored in the â€œRising Starsâ€ category, which was awarded to Overholt in 2016. Overholt discussed the awards and how proud she is of the work being done by espnW and ESPN The Magazine: â€œThese last few weeks have been incredible recognition for this team of reporters, writers, editors and creative directors who continue to raise their games with every passing day. "To see the espnW team's tireless work to elevate stories by, about and for women honored at an event like The Gracies, where we also got to cheer our own Sarah Spain's recognition for her leadership on the issue of social media trolling, as well as Paula Lavigne's incredibly well deserved honors for Outside the Lines' Baylor investigation was rewarding on a very deep level -- and that was just one night!
