On Tuesday, International Women’s Day, espnW launched at a full-house press conference in Sao Paulo. Divided into four verticals (news, lifestyle, specials and blogs), espnW Brazil is bringing together a team of women connected with sports from the worlds of medicine, physical therapy, nutrition, physical training and psychology, in addition to self-employed professionals, freelancers and mothers who will talk about their relationship with sports as one of the many commitments that make up their daily lives. Current ESPN Brazil commentators and former Olympic athletes who will be contributing to espnW Brazil will be: Magic Paula (basketball), Ana Moser (volleyball), Flavia Delaroli (swimming), Juiana Cabral (soccer) and Daniele Zangrando (judo), in addition to journalists Juliana Veiga and Gabriela Moreira. “The launch of espnW in Brazil serves an ever-larger profile of sports fans in the Brazilian market,†said German Hartenstein, general manager of ESPN Brazil. “The audience for our channels includes a growing number of women who are interested in sports and are looking for quality content on every subject related to the sports world, not only on individual sports. espnW is the first Brazilian portal to serve this audience, offering relevant content produced especially for the female esthetic and with the credibility of the ESPN brand.†“Sports are of worldwide interest, enjoyed by women across the globe,†said Laura Gentile, senior vice president, espnW and Women’s Initiatives. “The strength and popularity of ESPN in Brazil made it the ideal place for espnW to begin our expansion beyond the United States and to bring content to women in sports on an international scale.†The faces of espnW Brazil team.
