It’s crucial for everyone to come together and support this initiative. Members of ESPN Technology came together to support the viral #ILookLikeAnEngineer campaign aimed at spreading awareness about diversity in technology. At ESPN, initiatives such as the Technology Diversity & Inclusion Team help address decades-long lack of diversity in the technology industry. “I think our group photo says a lot. ESPN is the most diverse place I have ever worked. Ever since I joined in 2008, as an intern, diversity has been preached in our rookie camps. It may be a ‘thing’ now, but ESPN has been doing it for years,†said Carlos Diaz, an iOS engineer in the Consumer Software Engineering group. Isis Winger, a platform engineer who received unexpected backlash after she appeared in an ad campaign for her firm, created the #ILookLikeAnEngineer hashtag and it has since gone viral.
