ESPN at the 2014 AAJA Convention

ESPN's Carolyn Hong, Kevin Negandhi and Jackson Davis at the Asian AJA Sports Task Force kickoff event at the AAJA Convention in Washington, D.C. (Aug 13-16). According to Hong, ESPN was behind the effort to launch a Sports Task Force, which will give Asian-American sports journalists a network and support system and also help establish a pipeline for future sports journalists through mentorships and scholarship opportunities. ESPN digital reporter and host Cary Chow got things started, hosting a meeting before the Task Force open discussion about sports journalism. SportsCenter anchor Kevin Negandhi served as the keynote speaker at the inaugural AAJA Sports Task Force meeting. Diversity in sports journalism, specifically the need for more Asian American role models, was one of the main topics discussed by the AAJA Sports Task Force.
